Outdoor Activities

Emma Long (City Park for you locals like me): Access to Emma Long Park is from City Park Road on the South of 2222 just west of 360. The park is at the end of City Park Rd. and offers basketball courts, sand volleyball, a small beach, an area for overnight camping, grills, a boat dock, cold water and plenty of shade at the water line. FYI, the water is much colder than Lake Travis since Mansfield Dam actually feeds and creates Lake Austin at Emma Long Park. The water feeding the lake comes from the bottom of Lake Travis which is about one hundred feed deep at the bottom of Mansfield Dam. There is a great mountain bike trail if you turn left just before the park. It’s about a forty-five minute trail and a quality front shock, gloves and a helmet are a must. The trail is considered one of the most difficult in Austin. I highly recommend a wearing a hydration pack. My pack holds two liters of water and I fill it with ice and water at home to avoid drinking hot water by the end of the ride.
